Following the 2008 financial and social crisis, two counterculture movements were born: Occupy Wall street and crypto. ‘occupy’ was a genuine effort to change the corrupted banking system. The movement was a viral hit, its message was distributed all over the world and created a global wave of protest. But the movement growth was based on mainstream social media which lacks the second element of a viable evolution process, which is selection. There was no filtering mechanism, the social media gave great exposure to sensational unproven conspiracy theories that eventually droned the movement down the drain.
